Fly Fishing Schools/Clinics
Stillwater Introduction

Location: Monster Lake, Cody, WY

Easily the best Stillwater fishery available that I’m aware of, this lake is on fire with big numbers of trophy trout landed daily. I prefer to fish it early and late in the season when water temperatures are favorable to fish. Most rainbows will average 4-10 pounds and up to 12-13. These rainbows are so big around that you can’t get your hand around them. Browns are plentiful, although more difficult to catch unless you focus your efforts early and late. There are four age classes in the lake with the average brown running 20-24 inches and up to 14-15 pounds. The brook trout are more scarce because they feed more at night, but will run well over 20 inches and up to 6 pounds. This is not only a trophy fishery, but you will catch numbers as well with 25-30 fish days the norm for most anglers. I will show you how to improve your Stillwater presentation system including where to fish and when, proper fly lines, retrieves and patterns along with how to adjust for wind or flat water conditions and much more. This is one lake that will wear you down because these fish pull so hard you have to be up for it. Trust me, you’ll see. This clinic will last about 3 hours and the rest of the time spent fishing over these huge trout. I promise you this, you will know how to fish a lake when you finish this class.
