Fly
Fishing Trips
Location: Upper Klamath Lake, Rocky Point, OR
Upper Klamath Lake has long been known for its huge rainbows, some reaching 17-18 pounds. These are all native fish as it has never been stocked. The average sized rainbow runs 3-6 pounds, but 7-10 pound fish are landed daily.
All methods of presentation will work with the cast and retrieve the most popular way to present your fly. The key to catching these big fish is where you fish and when you are there. Over the past fifty five years I have guided and fished this lake and the knowledge I've learned from those experiences relative to the best flies, lines, leader set up, retrieves, where to fish and when are the framework for the clinic along with a ton of information relative to unlocking the mysteries about stillwater.
A boat and motor, pontoon or float tube boat are necessary for this lake. The presentation systems we will discuss work for all lakes and reservoirs. We will hold the clinic at my ranch in Fort Klamath starting at noon. The clinic will take about 2 1/2-3 hours and we will drive the 25 miles to Rocky Point where we will fish the lake. If you want to learn stillwater, this is your opportunity to gain the necessary knowledge to be successful.
